Mardi Gras is a party that is celebrated all around the world on the day before Ash Wednesday as a way to indulge before the start of Lent. Also know as Fat Tuesday, this year we celebrate it on February 17th. Traditionally, green, purple and gold, party décor using plenty of shiny beads and flashy masks are used to set the tone for the festive get together. We have a new approach to a Mardi Gras table scape – taking it from predictable and ordinary to unexpected and extraordinary!
White Ostrich feathers in tall Trumpet vases add height, and a whimsical texture to the table. We used polished and Mercury votive candles in varying heights to add interest and texture. An elegant and simple touch to any party. Everyone looks good in candlelight! For more ideas using votive candle holders click here.
Many varied hues of purple were used to add a stylish play on the obvious Mardi Gras colors commonly used. We used hydrangea, roses, stock, lisianthus and orchids to create the festive floral design. A charcoal silver sequin table runner added depth and allowed for the candlelight to bounce and sparkle.
We “Jazzed” it up in true News Orleans style by using authentic instruments as table accents. Various brass horns warmed up the table and added a playful reminder of NOLA.
Whatever your plans for Mardi Gras, make sure you fill it with love and laughter and share it with family and Friends!
